Employment Training Program

 WorkForce 55+ is a federally funded Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) which helps seniors return to the work place with a model that allows participants to earn while they learn.


The program is committed to empowering economically disadvantaged seniors to achieve economic independence and control of their own futures, through job training and employment opportunities.   


Do I qualify?

If you answer yes to all of the below questions, you qualify.

  • Is my age 55 or older?
  • Am I seeking employment training?
  • Am I currently unemployed?
  • Am I living on a limited income?


What do I need?

  • Photo ID;
  • Social Security Card;
  • Birth Certificate;
  • Proof of Income.
    • Social Security Award Letter;
    • Zero Income Letter;
    • Prior Year Tax Return.

Why Hire 55+?



 Hire experience with WorkForce 55+


Hiring WorkForce 55+ participants is smart business. Mature workers have lower absenteeism, stay on the job longer than younger employees, and bring a wealth of experiences to the workplace. Our participants have already had training in customer service, clerical, computer skills, and more. They are well-rounded workers with the:

  • Willingness to learn;
  •  Eagerness to be retained; and
  • Professional counseling, assessment and training necessary to enable them to be placed.


Hiring Incentive: Fully Paid Wages for Mature Workers

 LWD will pay 100% of WorkForce 55+ participants’ wages directly for 4 weeks through an On-the-Job Experience (OJE) contract. OJE is an option which provides employers the chance to observe and mold the worker on the job, prior to hire.

Employer qualifications will be matched by employment specialists to the strengths and abilities of WorkForce 55+ participants.


Employer Requirements

  •  Employers must pay at least minimum wage
  •  Positions must be no more than 40 hours a week
  •  On-the-Job Experience contracts cannot exceed 4 weeks
