Welcome to the Jobs4Jersey blog! We would like to introduce ourselves and tell you a little about how we came up with our project.

Who are we?

Our names are Kevin and Sarah, and we currently live in the beautiful town of Lakewood, New Jersey. The story of how we met is pretty simple and boring – we were introduced to each other at one of Lakewood’s companies, where we worked. At the time, Kevin was performing the function of a Human Resources Manager, and I, Sarah, was just starting my career – I joined Kevin’s team as a Junior Assistant.

This happened a few years ago and our lives have changed ever since – we have changed homes, jobs, and positions, but remained close friends to this day.

The story of our blog

We came up with the idea for the Jobs4Jersey blog in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic was strongly impacting labor markets around the world. We felt it too – as HR specialists, we had to adapt to remote working, and we knew our companies were struggling. Furthermore, we realized how many people had lost their jobs due to the crisis.

Back then, we wanted to start a project that would help New Jersey residents get back on their feet. We decided that, as Human Resources specialists, we should simply do what we know best – share our work experience with others. After all, we know how a recruiter views job candidates or how to impress a potential employer.

Our vision

Although we call ourselves professionals, we are humans too! We know the struggle of finding a good job – trust us, we’ve been there ourselves. We have spent months on internships and attended dozens of interviews as candidates, but we also held many more as recruiters. We looked at hundreds, if not thousands, of resumes. We saw many common mistakes that made potentially suitable candidates not desirable in the eyes of their potential employers.

This blog is a place to gather these mistakes and approach them so that you – the reader – can get the job of your dreams. Sometimes when people apply for a job, they don’t know how to show themselves in the best possible light. This is mostly true for inexperienced workers, but some professionals also struggle with self-presentation.

On top of that, the job market is changing rapidly, and we believe that there should be a place where you can browse articles and news about this very issue.

Our mission

We have been kicking around the idea of creating a new project for some time. When we noticed that the job market was starting to recover from the pandemic, we decided it was time to finally do something. Restaurants, entertainment venues, and other businesses in New Jersey began to slowly reopen, and with that, people began looking for work.

Our mission is to help these people land their desired positions not only now, but in the years to come. A job market is an unforgiving place where, even if you are an expert in your field, you sometimes have to compete with many other candidates for your desired position. Knowing how to present yourself to a potential employer or where to find a good job is crucial. That’s why we decided to share useful job tips with a wide audience.
